OSCE Permanent Council informed about Priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers

On 25 April 2024, during a discussion with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe (CoE), Marija Pejčinović Burić in the Permanent Council of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Lithuania outlined to the OSCE participating States the priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, which will start on 17 May 2024.

Lithuania’s Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Vaidotas Verba, stressed that during the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Lithuania will strive “to continue promoting and protecting democratic values and principles against aggression and authoritarianism with the strong focus on supporting Ukraine, defending itself against the Russian war of aggression, as well as ensuring Russia’s full accountability for international crimes.”

Lithuania will hold Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of the Europe from 17 May to 13 November 2024. This is Lithuania's second Presidency of the Committee of Ministers.
