STRENGTHENING COOPERATION IN THE AREA OF COHESION POLICY BETWEEN THE NORDIC, BALTIC AND VISEGRÁD COUNTRIES
Upon the initiative of Lithuania and Poland, a meeting of Ministers for Cohesion Policy of the Nordic, Baltic and Visegrád countries took place on 26 November in Vilnius.
The Ministers discussed efforts to coordinate among themselves the selection of projects important to whole region and the use of the European Structural and Investment Funds for their implementation. The participants of the meeting emphasised that a unified view and coordinated efforts were necessary to increase regional prosperity. Issues most relevant to urban development and the EU’s assistance for 2014-2020 to expedite their solutions were also discussed.
The Ministers from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary participated in the meeting.
The first meeting of Foreign Ministers of the twelve Nordic, Baltic and Visegrád countries was held on 20 February 2013 in Gdańsk. The meeting focused on Europe’s growth strategy, security, and the Eastern Partnership.
