President of the Republic of Lithuania has designated Renatas Norkus Lithuania's Ambassador to the International Organizations in Vienna
On 5 August 2008 President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus has designated Renatas Norkus Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organisation, the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation, and the United Nations Office at Vienna. According to the President, Lithuania will face a great challenge and responsibility in 2011 when the country will take presidency of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe. President underlined the importance of the activities to be carried out by the Ambassador in the International Atomic Energy Agency, as Lithuania seeks to develop a new nuclear power plant construction project and present it to the international community. President believes accountable and efficient performance in OSCE and other organisations will contribute to the consolidation and improvement of Lithuania's international relations in the international arena. On 12 August 2008 newly appointed ambassador Renatas Norkus will replace Rytis Paulauskas, who has been the Lithuanian ambassador to the International Organizations in Vienna since 9 October 2003.
