ODIHR ELECTION ASSESSMENT MISSION TO LITHUANIA ISSUES FINAL REPORT
On 3 January 2013 the OSCE/ODIHR Election Assessment Mission has issued its final report about the October 2012 parliamentary elections in Lithuania.
The team of ODIHR professionals that worked in Lithuania during the last elections to the Seimas has given a broad positive evaluation of the organization of free and fair elections in Lithuania. At the same time, it indicated certain areas where the ODIHR experts see room for improvement in the existing legal framework and electoral practice. The report contains pertinent recommendations by the experts.
The Lithuanian Central Electoral Commission has announced its intent to initiate in the immediate future a discussion among all interested state institutions, political parties, public organisations and civil society regarding the problematic aspects identified in the ODIHR Election Assessment Mission report.
