New Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the OSCE presented credentials to Secretary General of the OSCE
On 25 January, new Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Ambassador Giedrius Čekuolis presented credentials to Secretary General of the OSCE Lamberto Zannier.
G.Čekuolis and L.Zannier discussed the recently finished Lithuania's 2011 OSCE chairmanship. The Secretary General expressed appreciation to the new Lithuanian Permanent Representative for his personal active engagement and contribution in 2011 to resolve protracted conflicts in Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh and Georgia.
Lithuania handed over the chairmanship of the organization to Ireland, this year together with the incoming chairmanship Ukraine takes active part in OSCE Troika. In 2012 Lithuania also chairs the Asian partners contact group.
During Lithuania's 2011 OSCE Chairmanship Ambassador G.Čekuolis acted as the Special Representative of the Chairperson-In-Office Foreign Minister A. Ažubalis for protracted conflicts.
