MONGOLIA JOINS THE OSCE

In 2011, OSCE Partner for Co-operation Mongolia applied for the status of a participating State in the Organization.

At the OSCE Ministerial Council in Vilnius last December, Lithuanian diplomats brokered a ministerial decision on the application of Mongolia. It contained a promise to address the matter without delay. This year, the Irish OSCE Chairmanship ably organized the process of implementation of that decision. As a result, with the adoption through silence procedure, on 21 November, of the Ministerial Council decision on the Accession of Mongolia to the OSCE, the promise of Vilnius was fulfilled and Mongolia joined the Organization as a 57th participating State.
