MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WELCOMES THE RELEASE OF A.KOZULIN TO FREEDOM

On 16 August, former candidate of Belarusian opposition during 2006 presidential elections, political prisoner Alexander Kozulin was released from a Belarusian prison.

‘Lithuania welcomes such a step of the Belarusian government and hopes that other political prisoners will also be freed in the nearest future. It would give a serious impetus for Belarus to normalise the relations with the Euro-Atlantic community,’ indicated Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vaitiekūnas.
