Lithuania's Permanent Representative to OSCE Ambassador A. Taurantas is visiting Central Asia

This week, Permanent Representative of Lithuania to OSCE Ambassador A. Taurantas – together with OSCE Ambassadors from other OSCE participating States – is visiting Central Asian region (Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan).

During their visit, Ambassadors are meeting the leaders of the 3 Central Asian countries, representatives of governmental institutions and civil society. On the agenda - a wide range of issues - security, protecting human rights, ensuring media freedom, fighting against corruption. Lots of attention is also given to the renewed EU strategy for Central Asia and its implementation.

Yesterday, in Nur-Sultan, Ambassadors also took part at the conference "Afghanistan and the OSCE: Fostering the Opportunities for Partnership and Cooperation".

This visit – yet another proof, how important Central Asian region is for the OSCE participating States and how committed OSCE participating States are for the safety and security of the states of the region and their people, as well as for the sustainable economic development.
