Lithuania, together with other OSCE countries, expressed support for the Georgian people and condemned law enforcement violence against them
On 19 December, at the Permanent Council of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Lithuania, together with like-minded countries, expressed support for the people of Georgia, their democratic and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and strongly condemned the "Georgian Dream" brutal and unjustified violence against them.
The countries urged Georgia to adhere to its OSCE commitments, end law enforcement repression, including arbitrary detentions and physical violence, and immediately release protesters, members of the media, opposition figures, and others detained for exercising their rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression while supporting Georgia's Euro-Atlantic aspirations. It was stressed that those responsible for the unlawful use of force must be held accountable.
Additionally, the countries stated their intention to explore all mechanisms within the OSCE framework moving forward. They encouraged Georgia to return to the path of EU integration, which the vast majority of Georgians desired.
