LITHUANIA TOGETHER WITH ESTONIA AND LATVIA CONDEMNED ANNEXATION OF CRIMEA BY RUSSIA

Lithuanian Permanent representative to the OSCE, ambassador Giedrius Čekuolis in response, on behalf of Estonia and Latvia, to the address of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine A. Deshchytsia at the OSCE Permanent Council on 20 March, strongly condemned act of annexation of Crimea by Russian Federation, which breached international law: UN Charter, provisions of the Helsinki Final Act, the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, other international agreements as well as bilateral agreements between Russia and Ukraine.

Baltic States called Russia's action an illegal annexation of the Ukrainian sovereign territory and stated that they will not recognise the illegal joining of parts of the territory of sovereign Ukraine to the Russian Federation. Alongside the strong support was reiterated for Ukraine's independence, sovereignity and territorial integrity.
