Lithuania starts chairing of the Human dimension committee of the OSCE
Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation of Europe, Greece invited Lithuania to take over the Chairmanship of the Human dimension committee. "Attention to the human dimension - one of the main priorities of Lithuania in the OSCE. Respect of human rights and freedoms, strenghthening of democratic institutions, conducting of free and fair elections, rule of law, support of the media freedom directly contributes to the stability and security in the participating states of the OSCE. The Human dimension committee is the place where the discussions are hold on these topics. The commitments of the countries in these areas are also discussed in this committee. We accepted the offer of the Greek Chairmanship and we will do this job responsibly," - said permanent representative of Lithuania to the OSCE ambassador Renatas Norkus. In meantime the OSCE unites 56 countries from Europe, North America and Central Asia.
