LITHUANIA ENHANCES COOPERATION WITH MOROCCO
On 7 February State Secretary of Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Algimantas Rimkūnas met Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Morocco Ambassador Youssef Amrani, who arrived to Vilnius.
During the bilateral consultation bilateral Lithuanian-Moroccan relations and possibilities for their development were discussed, opinions were exchanged on the European Neighbourhood Policy, fight against terrorism and cooperation with NATO; promotion of economic relations was agreed.
After accession to the EU in 2004 Lithuania joined the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Program. One of the aims of the partnership is creation of free trade area for the EU and Mediterranean States by 2010-2015. Morocco is one of the most active participants of this partnership in social, economic and security reforms spheres.
Political consultations between Lithuania and Morocco started in 2003.
