Lithuania allocates financial support for the implementation of the OSCE projects in Ukraine

Lithuania is planning to finance two OSCE projects in Ukraine in 2016. 20,000 EUR will be allocated for the activities of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) of OSCE in Ukraine, which contributes to the settlement of the conflict in and around of Ukraine and raises awareness about the violation of human rights by Russia-backed separatists in Donbas region.

Additionally 15,000 EUR will be contributed to the implementation of the project “Dialogue for Reform and Social Cohesion in Ukraine“ in 2016/2017. The project will be administered by the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine. The main goal of the project - to develop a dialogue between the central government of Ukraine and the regions (including the Donbas region) in the process of implementation of reforms, in accordance with international practice and OSCE principles. It will also aim to strengthen the mediation skills of government and civil society representatives in developing confidence-building measures, in the context of resolution of the conflict in and around of Ukraine.

The OSCE is actively implementing projects in Ukraine, which contribute to the de-escalation of security situation in eastern Ukraine and the implementation of the Minsk agreements, as well it provides expert support for the Ukrainian government to implement democratic reforms and OSCE commitments.
