FOREIGN MINISTERS OF LITHUANIA AND LIECHTENSTEIN MEET TO DISCUSS STRENGTHENING EU-LIECHTENSTEIN RELATIONS
On 9 September in Vilnius, the Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius met with Aurelia Frick, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Principality of Liechtenstein, to discuss prospects for relations between the European Union and Liechtenstein, bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The head of the Lithuanian diplomacy presented the EU Council Presidency’s agenda and stressed the importance of relations between the EU and the States of the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) and the European Economic Area (EEA), including Liechtenstein. According to L.Linkevičius, Lithuania highly values Liechtenstein’s willingness to be a reliable partner for Europe and looks forward to further constructive cooperation with this country.
The Lithuanian Foreign Minister thanked Liechtenstein for its support to Lithuania and other countries, which joined the EU after 2004. L.Linkevičius expressed his belief that the cooperation programmes would also continue in the future.
At the meeting, the Foreign Ministers welcomed the cooperation between Lithuania and Liechtenstein within international organizations. L.Linkevičius thanked the Minister for Liechtenstein’s support to Lithuania’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the period 2014-2015.
