On 17 October, Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Antanas Valionis sent a letter of congratulation to the 7th General Conference of the Union of the Baltic Cities.
In his letter, the Minister expressed hope that the whole Baltic Region would benefit from the new opportunities, opening with the EU “New Neighbours” Initiative.
According to Minister Valionis, “our task is to facilitate this cooperation by providing sufficient means and establishing new instruments to enhance New Neighbourhood not only between states, but first of all between people, cities and regions”.
“Wider Europe should become wide enough for everybody,” the Minister’s letter says.
