EU ADDRESSES THE ISSUE WITH REGARD TO PIG IMPORT BAN AT WTO

At the presentation of the World Trade Organization’s annual report on developments in the international trading environment on 17 February in Geneva, the European Union described the ban of imports of live pigs and pork as an “illegal measure” by Russia against the exporters of Lithuania and other EU member states.
The new barrier to trade is not in accordance with the WTO rules and Russia’s WTO commitments. The EU called on Russia to immediately lift the ban, which was in breach of the WTO commitments.
