Lithuanian Permanent Representative met with the OSCE Secretary General
On 19 March Lithuanian Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna ambassador Aurimas Taurantas met with the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.
At the meeting, the OSCE activities were discussed, focusing on the OSCE's involvement in Ukraine as well as on the activities of Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) in Eastern Ukraine. It was emphasised that ensuring effective OSCE activities in Ukraine in support of the ongoing reforms in the country and efforts to stop the Russian aggression against Ukraine are the issues of crucial importance to Lithuania.
"Lithuanian strongly supports the OSCE activities in the conflict zone in Eastern Ukraine. Lithuania also gives special attention to the implementation of reforms in Ukraine as well as to raising issues that are important to Ukraine at the international organizations", noted Ambassador Taurantas.
OSCE activities in Georgia, the OSCE reform initiated by the Secretary General, OSCE role in reducing tentions in the region, and Lithuanian projects and initiatives were also discussed.
